Being that February is a short month, we held our February meeting on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Mary Jo was our hostess. Thank you, MJ!
Book discussed was "The House at the End of Hope Street" by Menna van Praag. A few participants liked the book, found it a pleasant read. Some did not like it at all. Others felt that the author could have built on the wisdom of the women whose portraits were on the wall. These portraits spoke to the women living in the house...but, it fell flat. Could have been more.
An important part of our meeting was getting a first person update on the tragic situation in the Ukraine. Stephanie recently returned from a family visit and shared her experiences and made us more aware.
Judy had submitted three books as suggestions for our April meeting. The book chosen was Alice Hotfman's "Dovekeepers". Claire expressed that she prefers to have five books offered as suggestions. Others did not seem to be concerned about the number as long as there were at least three.
Several members of book club will be away at the time of our next meeting on Sunday, March 30. This meeting will be held at Stephanies. Book to be discussed in "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.
