January 31, 2017 Meeting at Stephanies Home

January Meeting Report was submitted by Lori.

Here is my  summary of our last book club meeting to
discuss Plainsong by Kent Haruf. We had relatively few people at the
meeting, so we were able to sit around Stephanie's table while we
talked and enjoyed the fantastic soup she made for us. The food and
conversation around the table was the perfect antidote to a winter
day. Most enjoyed Plainsong and there was plenty to discuss about the
characters in the book and their interaction. We were excited to have
picked a book that Marilyn liked. See her musings in the email below
:-)

The book chosen for the February 28th meeting is "An Invisible Thread:
The True Story of an 11-Year Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive,
and an Unlikely meeting with Destiny" by Laura Schroff, Alex
Tresniowski. We did not decide on a place. Mary Jo mentioned that she
might be able to host again, if there was not another option, but we
need to confirm with her. Or does anyone else have any other ideas.
Claire, Ann S., and Marilyn will be on a snow shoe trip, so it would
be best if the meeting were close by.

Ann S will provide the books for us to choose for the April 24th
meeting and Ann F. will provide books to choose from for the May
meeting. They switched since Ann F won't be able to come to the April
meeting.

We discussed moving the March meeting to March 20th because Easter
falls on March 27th. Since "An Invisible Thread" isn't too long, we
thought that might be okay. We can confirm that change during the
February meeting. We still don't have a place for the March meeting.

The book selected for the March Book Club was

An Invisible Thread: The True Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an Unlikely Meeting with Destiny
